Alessandra Bartolozzi is the Head of Medicinal Chemistry at Senda Biosciences. She brings over 18 years of experience in drug discovery, across multiple target classes and therapeutic areas.
The projects she has led have encompassed all stages of the discovery process, ranging from hit-identification to pre-clinical development candidate selection. Alessandra has led medicinal chemistry teams to the discovery of two clinical candidates, one of which is Belumosudil. Prior to Senda, Alessandra worked in both small and large pharma, including Boehringer Ingelheim where she had several roles, most recently Senior Associate Director of Medicinal Chemistry.
Alessandra completed her PhD in Organic Chemistry at the University of Florence, Italy on the development of new methodologies for the synthesis of glyco-conjugates. Thereafter, she took a postdoctoral appointment in the Department of Chemistry at MIT where she developed methods for the assembly of heparin oligosaccharides in solution for solid phase applications. Alessandra is an inventor on over 20 patents and patent applications, and has published over 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
